MSI Katana Warrior

MSI

A body-controlled samurai game: swing your arms to cut through 50 ninjas, then spin the prize wheel. It drew queues at MSI stands for months.

The story

The player is a samurai on a temple road lined with cherry blossoms. A Kinect reads real arm swings as sword cuts, the HUD shows the tracked silhouette and QR codes for AL-Arcade and MSI, and a finished run leads to a prize wheel with MSI gear.

It toured MSI stands from December 2023 to June 2024, indoors and outdoors.

Hard parts cleared

  • Arm swings become sword cuts, with ninjas sliced apart where the blade passes.
  • A hands-free start: the round waits on a calibration screen until the sensor finds a player.
  • A prize system staff run on site: stock per prize, edited on the spot, with organiser overrides for special guests.
  • Built to survive long queues all day on a busy stand.
